Bees rely on their sense of smell to identify different flowers, making them effective pollinators.

☠️ Air pollution masks scent molecules in plants, meaning bees have to FORAGE FOR LONGER, tiring them out & making them less effective at pollinating.

Β

πŸŒπŸŒ³πŸ’šΒ Why a World Bee Day; Pollination, a pillar of our ecosystems ❓

🌱 Bees are pollination pioneers, allowing many plants, including an array of food crops, to reproduce. The food that we eat, such as fruits and vegetables, directly relies on pollinators.

πŸ’ͺ🏻 Pollinators not only help ensure the abundance of fruits, nuts, and seeds, but also their variety and quality, which is crucial for human nutrition.

Β

⚠️ A world without pollinators would equal a world without food diversity – no blueberries, coffee, chocolate, cucumbers and so much more.

Β

πŸ’šΒ They also serve as sentinels for emergent environmental risks, signalling the health of local ecosystems.

πŸ’Š Pollinators also contribute directly to medicines, biofuels, fibres like cotton and linen, and construction materials.

Do you know all the different pollinators?

🐝🌱🌳 The Great Out-tours have an unBEE-lievably happy relationship with these amazing insects.

At our Woodside Environmental Education Centre, within a Sussex apple tree orchard, πŸŽ₯πŸ‘‰πŸ» we have a client made 'Bee & Bee' accomodation complex, fully booked ALL YEAR ROUND.🐝😁

πŸ“‹πŸΒ We feature Bees throughout our National award-winning 'Four Seasons Activity Programme'Β at Woodside Environmental Education Centre.

⚠️ We are highlighting:

  • πŸŒπŸπŸ¦‹πŸ¦πŸ¦‡ Bees are the most pivotal pollinator species gracing our planet, but THEY NEED THE HELP OF OTHER POLLINATOR ANIMALS. Butterflies, birds and bats pollinate plants too.

  • πŸπŸ¦πŸ¦‡ Through our farm programme delivered to young people and adults with learning difficulties and life shortening illnesses, we welcome bees and their pollinator friends to our land-holding.

WE MAKEΒ 'Kenyan top-bar' natural bee hives, bird nest-boxes & bat-boxes.

  • πŸ˜ƒπŸŒ±πŸŽ To the delight of our clients (and our own instructor team), to PRESENT DAY all constructed pollinators homes ARE OCCUPIED, and this having a major positive impact on the centre's ecosystem balance & plant health/harvest.
